The Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) is a settlement English program for newly arrived migrants and refugees. The program has helped migrants and refugees to settle successfully in Australia for more than 60 years.

The AMEP is funded by the Australian Government and is managed by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC). 

In the AMEP people learn:

  • English and communication skills for living in Australia
  • about the Australian way of life
  • about the Australian workplace
  • how to access important services
  • about further study

AMEP Fact File

Since 1998, Navitas English has been a leading provider of major government funded programs to Australia’s migrant communities. Navitas English delivers the AMEP, a federally funded English language program to newly arrived migrants in metropolitan Sydney.

The Navitas English AMEP Consortium has had over 120,000 enrolled students.
