Adult Migrant English Program
The Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) is a settlement English program for newly arrived migrants and refugees. The program has helped migrants and refugees to settle successfully in Australia for more than 60 years.
The AMEP is funded by the Australian government and is managed by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC). ACL delivers the AMEP through the ACL AMEP Consortium in metropolitan Sydney.
Under the program, eligible migrants and refugees can learn and improve language skills such as:
- reading
- writing
- speaking
- listening
In the AMEP, students can also learn about the Australian way of life and how to access important services.

AMEP Fact File
Since 1998, ACL has been a leading provider of major government funded programs to Australia’s migrant communities. ACL delivers the AMEP, a federally funded English language program to newly arrived migrants in metropolitan Sydney.
Since 1998 the ACL AMEP Consortium has had over 100,000 enrolled students.
