Settlement English in Australia

ACL is contracted by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) to deliver two major Australian settlement programs. The Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) and the Integrated Humanitarian Settlement Strategy (IHSS) are delivered by ACL through AMEP and IHSS Consortiums.

The Adult Migrant English Program is Australia’s largest settlement program.

Under the AMEP, eligible migrants and refugees are provided with 510 hours of English language training, career counselling and general settlement assistance. ACL delivers the AMEP in a number of colleges and locations in metropolitan Sydney.

The Integrated Humanitarian Settlement Strategy is designed to help people rebuild their lives in Australia by providing them with support designed to meet their initial settlement needs. ACL delivers the IHSS through a consortium comprising of organisations that specialise in helping people overcome the challenges of life in their new country. The ACL IHSS consortium delivers a variety of services to its clients to many locations around NSW.
